Welcome!
Thanks for visiting my website! Animals, nature, dogs and horses have really made a difference to me through some really challenging times. I have experienced joy, love and connectedness in the darkest of hours through my interactions with nature and animals. The natural world has taught me a tremendous amount about myself, others and existence itself. I believe the natural world has really taught me how to listen and I strive to be present enough to listen to both the communication of your animal and your to help you to develop a truly nourishing relationship with your furry companions.
Animal Experience
Linda's journey through life has been intertwined with a deep love and connection to animals. Starting from her childhood surrounded by a variety of pets, she developed a passion for caring for and understanding them. From attending dog obedience classes and horse riding lessons as a teenager to venturing into owning and training her own animals, Linda's bond with them only grew stronger over the years.
Transitioning into adulthood, Linda took on the responsibility of her first dog, Binky, marking the beginning of a lifelong companionship with multiple dogs. Her move to a rural area at 26 reignited her love for horse riding, eventually leading her to establish a trail riding business and delve into the world of equine ownership and training.
As her journey unfolded, Linda's path evolved to encompass her passion for animal-assisted therapy. This led her to pursue two psychology degrees and multiple counselling and psychotherapy orientated training, including animal assisted psychotherapy. Her dedication to this field culminated in the establishment of a private practice as an animal-assisted clinical counselor, where she utilises her experience in fostering healing relationships between animals and humans.
In her continuous pursuit of knowledge and skill development, Linda expanded her horizons by moving to the Northern Territory, where she helped to implement a therapy dog program for a local non-government organisation. Her recent completion of a Certificate IV in animal behavior and training showcases her commitment to enhancing the well-being and bond between animals and their human counterparts, with a strong emphasis on enrichment and positive relationships.
Linda is an advocate of the Least Intrusive, Minimally Aversive (LIMA) and Least Inhibitive, Functionally Effective (LIFE) models of animal welfare, behaviour and training. Whilst fundamentally different, both these models advocate for an animal to have positive experiences of behaviour and training that tap into the animals innate biological, physiological, social and cognitive behavioural drivers to enhance health and wellbeing.
